Hans Van Steertegem

Hans is a veteran hotelier and long-term resident of Thailand. After graduating from the Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hotel Management in his native Belgium in 1989, Hans embarked on a journey to Phuket as Management Trainee, Holiday Inn Phuket and never looked back.

He, thereafter, gained invaluable insights and firsthand experience in every hotel department, laying a solid foundation for an international career in hospitality management operations with renowned brands Marriott, InterContinental Hotels and Sofitel.

This path also satiated his keen interest in traveling and absorbing the local cultures of key destinations in Asia, including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Bali and Bangkok, as well as Jordan and Egypt in the Middle East.

In 2015 Hans co-launched CTX, a Corporate Training company in Bangkok, and a year later he joined the opening team of Sansara, a mixed development project near the Black Mountain golf course in Hua Hin, Thailand.

A strong believer that hospitality is first and foremost a people’s business, Hans thrives on creating and optimizing performance-driven work environments where team members grow and excel in providing guests with unforgettable experiences through warm personal connections.

A polyglot of five languages who has a genuine passion for people, Hans loves to share stories with guests and finds fulfilment in passing on what he has learned to the next generation of hospitality professionals.
